Rotosound Super Bronze Phosphor Bronze 11-52 Acoustic Guitar Strings, Custom Light
Rotosound Super Bronze (once know as Country Gold) was designed and patented by Rotosound’s James How in 1974 taking inspiration from piano string design. What Rotosound call ‘Contact Core’ is an exposed section of core wire at the ball-end which means only the core wire itself touches the bridge/saddles. The result is expected to be louder strings with more sustain and clarity than the regular phosphor bronzes.
Is that so?!
Well, they’re definitely louder and as such sound like they sustain, or ring out, for a little longer. To my ear they have more mid-range and treble which I think is more down to a controlled low-end roll-off than a boost the other way. As it happens, this combo actually sounds brighter and bolder than the 80/20 bronze set. Massively surprised!
