These are Bass Centre Elites Groundwound bass series. These are initially wound like round wound strings until the outer layer where about half of the wire diameter is ground down to a smooth, flat surface. These are designed for the bass player who wants a blend of the feel of flat wound strings and the bright sound and flexibility of round wound.

Elites Groundwounds (aka “Halfrounds”) are made by grinding half of the outer windings of roundwound strings into a flat surface, creating a string with some tonal characteristics of Flatwounds but with the flexibility of roundwound bass strings – perfect for a bass player who wants a brighter sounding flat string.
