- D’Addario 020 Silverplated Wound on Nylon Single String
Construction is another key component of string performance. D’Addario offers a variety of construction methods to help you achieve your perfect tone and feel:
Â
Basses
Round Wound – The most popular and universal construction delivers that traditional textured feel most players are familiar and comfortable with.Â
Lightly Polished – We start with a finished round wound string then precisely flatten the tops of the windings through our unique polishing process. The result is strings with a smoother feel and reduced finger noise with the flexibility and tension of a round wound string. Great for recording!
Trebles
ProArte Laser Sorted Nylon – Each ProArte treble string is sorted by a sophisticated computer-controlled laser machine which performs 200 diameter/tension measurements, insuring true sounding, precisely intonating trebles, set after set.
Classics Rectified Nylon – Each treble string is ground using our exclusive centerless grinding technique. Roundness and dimension control are unsurpassed ensuring absolutely perfect intonation.

Classical Materials
Â
String materials can have a dramatic impact on your tone, feel and string life. Here is a quick look at D’Addario’s diverse selection of classical basses and trebles:
Basses
80/20 Bronze – Composed of 80% copper and 20% zinc, commonly referred to as brass, preferred by some players for its brilliance and projection.
Silver-plated Copper – Warm, acoustically rich copper which is plated with ultra-smooth silver for the ideal classical guitar tone. D’Addario’s most popular classical string material.
Multifilament Nylon Core – Nylon effectively replicates the sound of silk and gut strings with better durability and consistency.
Multifilament Composite Core – D’Addario exclusive high-tech core material dramatically improves string life, tuning consistency and possesses a bold, more dynamic response.
Trebles
Clear Nylon – The traditional standard for classical strings. Balance of warmth, brightness and projection with an ultra-smooth surface preferred by many professionals for its comfortable nail contact.
Black Nylon – A warmer, mellower tone than clear nylon and a popular choice for folk and some classical guitars.Â
Titanium – A contemporary treble material with attractive purple hue, smooth feel and brighter tone than traditional nylon. A popular choice for darker sounding instruments or when paired with our Composite or EXP basses.Â
Composite – Monofilament composite material delivers increased brightness and projection for 3rd/G strings. Provides more balanced volume transition between basses and trebles.
